A Wintery Welcome Back!

Adrienne Funk (3L)

The Alberta Law Review congratulates all students on successfully completing another great semester.

The ALR was busy this fall semester. We have comfortably moved into our new home in the Weir Law Library and toasted the move with an Open House. We also hosted our first Citation Workshop, which focused on the topic of case law citation and was very well attended. Stay tuned for more workshop dates and topics. Finally, we published Volume 52:1, our special edition celebrating the Court of Appeal of Alberta’s centennial. You can read the edition online through Quicklaw or HeinOnline, or pick up a copy in the library.

Volume 52:2, our energy law special featuring papers on the legal landscape of Alberta’s energy sector as presented at the annual Jasper Seminar hosted by the Canadian Energy Law Foundation, is hot off the press and available online soon! For anyone enrolled in an Oil and Gas or Energy law class, this edition could be the secondary-source fuel needed to find that perfect paper topic. Volumes 52:3 and 4 will be published this semester and will include topics such as public participation in resource development activities, property rights and the Charter, and Aboriginal youth’s overrepresentation in the correctional system.

Upcoming events for the ALR include our annual banquet being held the first week of March to honor our hard-working board members and our generous patrons and supporters. Also, look out for our wine and cheese recruitment event (date to be announced), which will be hosted in the CN Alumni Hall for any 1L’s looking to join our awesome team.

Good luck this semester!
