Graduation Banquet – March 22, 2014

Greetings soon-to-be graduates (and any 1Ls and 2Ls yearning for their own graduations!) Our graduation banquet will soon be upon us: Saturday, March 22nd is swiftly approaching. I don’t know about everyone else, but I am personally equally full of both excitement and relief. It’s been a long two and a half years!
This year’s banquet will take place at the Westin Hotel (10135 100th St. NW). Cocktail hour will take place at 6:00pm and dinner at 7:00pm. Tickets will cost $80.00 for graduates and $85.00 for any guests. Tickets include a champagne toast, dinner and wine, a dance, a photo booth, access to multiple bars, and a keepsake for the graduates (and there may possibly be an unofficial-official after-party somewhere downtown; further details will be provided closer to the event). Cash and cheques will be accepted (please make cheques payable to Law Grad Committee 2014).
Ticket sales are unlimited, but please note that they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets will be sold February 24th-28th from 12:00-2:00pm at the couches. At the same time, elections will be held by the Law Grad Committee 2015 for the class of 2014’s valedictorian, emcees, toast to the faculty and toast to the parents. If you have forgotten to nominate a friend, nomination will still be accepted until February 23rd; please send any nomination to email@example.com.
When buying your tickets, there will be lists for fifty tables, each of which accommodates ten guests. If you would like to sit with friends and their guests, you must either come together to ensure that all tickets are paid for up front, or you must have the money, names, and meal choices of your friend(s) and their guest(s). Unfortunately, we cannot reserve spaces at a table.
For you curious foodies, dinner will start with a roasted beet and orange salad, and guests will have a choice between three entrees: 1) chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese, basil and red pepper; 2) braised beef with caramelized leeks and merlot jus; or 3) a vegetarian squash, zucchini and potato cake with a mushroom and frieze salad. (I can personally vouch for the vegetarian potato cake!) Dessert will be a cream cheese and berry pedestal with berry coulis. Wine, of course, will also be provided. Dietary restrictions can certainly be accommodated; please notify us of any restrictions when purchasing your tickets.
The evening promises to be incredible night, a great opportunity for our families and friends to celebrate our achievements and to meet one another. Since commencement is not until June and so many of us will either already be articling/traveling/otherwise engaged, it would be wonderful to see all 173 of the Class of 2014 at this year’s graduation banquet.
