exams

Brett Lojczyc

19 Law Guy

Rate your fear level (on a scale of 1 to 10) on Orientation Day and now after having a couple days of law school under your belt?

On Orientation Day, 4.75/10. At RATT (during our Thirsty Thursday interview) and after some “social beverages”, 0.1/10

What was your favourite part about pre-orientation night?

Meeting classmates that you know will be a big part of your future.

Tell us a bit about yourself, where did you grow up and what program were you in before law?

I grew up in Beaverlodge, AB.  I have a B-Comm degree from the U of A.  Some of my interests include travel (a highlight being an exchange in Sweden) and sports (hockey, rugby, volleyball).

Why did you choose U of A?

The U of A is the only school I applied for; the reason I only applied to U of A Law is due to 1) the school’s great reputation; and 2) it being located in Alberta where one can expect to have a good business and legal career.

What have you done to prepare for the cold Edmonton winter?!

I’m from Beaverlodge… I brought my swim trunks and a singlet!

John Law’s mustache, yay or nay?

The very definition of a man, John Law’s mustache symbolizes the aspiration of every young man’s dream.

What are you most looking forward to about law school?

The way I see it, law school is a time to live life to the fullest.  I’m excited to study, get involved, learn and be social!

Rate your fear level (on a scale of 1 to 10) on Orientation Day and now after having a couple days of law school under your belt?

My rating wouldn’t be any different.  I wasn’t nervous since living with a 2L (the lovely Sanjana Ahmed) has helped me to get my bearings.  Coming in after a M.Sc. degree has also helped my confidence.

What was your favourite part about pre-orientation night?

I liked that I was able to meet 1Ls, 2Ls and 3Ls on a social basis.  Everyone was very welcoming and it gave me a great intro to the school.

Tell us a bit about yourself, where did you grow up and what program were you in before law?

My hometown is Ottawa, ON.  I completed my B.Sc.H. at U of O in Biomedical Sciences, then continued on to complete my M.Sc. at Queen’s in Pharmacology and toxicology a few weeks before moving to U of A.

Why did you choose U of A?

I chose the University of Alberta due to the Health Law program.  I decided that the inclusive nature of this faculty was the best fit for me.

What have you done to prepare for the cold Edmonton winter?!

I’m from Ottawa so I’m (semi) prepared!

John Law’s mustache, yay or nay?

Yay, the bowtie and the moustache are stylish!

What are you most looking forward to about law school?

I am most looking forward to making connection and friendships that will continue on for life.
