What position do you play on Swift Justice?
I have played defence for the last couple of games, for the sole reason that I can skate backwards (sort of).

What position do you play on the Tortfeasors?
Defence (the best offence is a good defence, ya know). I’d say I’m like a meaner Chris Pronger with the skills of Hall of Famer Bobby Orr (I get that a lot… I’m kind of a big deal).

Better luck next year! A stellar season for the competitive law intramural volleyball team was cut off heartbreakingly close to a championship. Excellent play by old veterans and exciting young rookies left the team one point shy of a title, but we’re surprisingly okay with it because this season was a lot of fun.

In a few weeks 51 of U of A’s most illustrious athletes (and Nolan Ritzel (2L)) will embark to Vancouver, British Columbia for the 2012 Law Games. Law Games will run from January 2-6 and promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Team U of A promises to be a formidable foe in various sports including the defending volleyball and ultimate frisbee champs. The volleyball team lost a lot of its previous talent, but Chantel Cabaj (3L) promises to deliver victory, though Cabaj still hasn’t received word from volleyball captain Jason Kully (3L) if she’ll get off the bench.

Excuse Me, Your Intellect is Showing

Men are intimidated by intelligent women because, well, you can’t screw brains. The best, most effective, most historically accurate strategy for men to subordinate women is to treat them as sexual objects. The thing is, in 2011, subordination is rather frowned upon by a woman who would perhaps rather be interpreting statutes than maintaining the macho complex of the guy she’s dating.

Swift Justice reached uncharted territory this fall season. With a host of new additions, including gate-man Barry Loutit and Coach Jen Newton, we managed to wrap up the season with a 3-3 record. To the naked eye that may sound mediocre, but seasoned fans will understand that a 3-3 record is nothing short of epic. Not to mention, we scored a total of 43 goals in 6 games, which I’m inclined to believe is more than Swift Justice has scored in the past 10 seasons combined.

LSA 1st Annual Ugly Sweater Party

Law school social events work a bit like clockwork. FFB, Law’s A Beach, Carbolic, Hal-law-ween – all these notable events have earned their position on the social roster by historically delivering a fantastic party. However, on December 1st, law students demonstrated their remarkable inclusivity by welcoming a new event with open arms. Perhaps it was the adult eggnog combined with the hope of a mistletoe kiss, but the sweaters were out in droves.

I eat food every day. Often, more than once. This clearly qualifies me to write a restaurant review for Canons. That, or no one else was available at the last minute. After reading this review, you can decide.
